St Marys – Construction

Challenge: With one weeks’ notice, during the holiday period, provision and agreement of a pricing proposal. Scope of works being remodelling and refurbishment of the main nursery and toilet project. Immediate mobilization and completion prior to return of pupils and staff.


Solution: Continuous monitoring and driving of the work force, whilst still maintaining the quality. Constant communication with the schools on site team, with variations as they occurred. Demolish all the old walls, shelving and partitions, strip out of existing mechanical and electrical services, construct new “boys and girls” toilets and a staff utility room. In order to do so at the highest quality and in a cost effective way, we had to provide new finishes to walls, floors, lighting and ceilings, install new electrical, heating and plumbing system and finishes. All works were completed on time, to allow the pupils and staff to commence new term in the new nursery with no disruption.

New library and walkway

St Margarets – Property Care

Challenge: Design and install a new heating system, including all associated building work. This was phase one (at short notice) and part of a multi phased project. It had to be completed over the summer holiday period in time for pupils and staff return. Provide a new walkway and bookshelf / reading area for the children.


Solution: In agreement with the headmistress and involving a representative of the pupils, who selected the colours to be used on the project, we incorporated and developed it to the final design and build. Once again our friendly and professional approach allowed us to do this. Bringing children in with the responsibility of making these types of choices and decisions strongly contributes to their education and development. We still managed to deliver the project on time and budget but with the difference that we actually engaged and collaborated with the children and staff in helping us decide colours and positions. “Happy pupil, happy staff”.

Within days they had agreed costs, programme, commenced design, then started the works at the end of term. Headmistress at St Magarets Primary School
St Peters school - Farnworth

Saint Peters – Property Care

Challenge: Delivering responsive top quality property care service to a 2 for entry school which is part new, part existing build. The school was faced with a serious damp penetration problem around the conserved entrance and a leak in the roof. We were also asked to refresh and update the whole CCTV system, provide and install a new cooker hood and emergency fire signage. Supply and fit extract cooker hood. Firmly re-fix faulty mounted taps to “boys and girls” WCs and eliminate trip hazard to sliding door threshold.


Solution: We achieved by providing a responsive, timely and cost effective service whilst maintaining “an outstanding church school” ethos. Repairs all completed on time, around day-to-day activities of the schools.

New fencing segregating car park and footpath

Saint Andrews – Property Care

Challenge: At Saint Andrews school there was no segregation between staff car parking and pedestrian access was a Health & Safety issue, requiring urgent attention.


Solution: Installation a new fence and gates which segregated staff, pupils and visitors from vehicular movements, yet maintained maximum access for all incoming vehicles. Powder coated gates and fencing installed to match existing one.

Defective timber boarding

Bishop Bridgman – Construction Consultancy

Challenge: Fix and make safe several dislodged and loose larch timber panels to the rear elevation. These were potentially a safety issue to the pupils and staff who circulated below and around these areas of cladding. Carry out more extensive investigation and produce a report on the overall stability of the cladding.


Solution: Carried out an emergency repair in order to make it safe and surveyed the whole high level timber cladding with short to medium term recommendations. We also proposed and provided a phased approach to the project with a number of different cost options to fit the schools’s current budget and requirements.
