National Retail Outlet –

Challenge: To complete the detailed design of the external cladding installation with associated steelwork. Providing new entrance and signage support provision.

Solution:Contor, working closely with the supply chain and consultants were able to provide a robust solution, removing the existing cladding and supplementing the existing steel structure with addition members to facilitate a more modern and lasting envelope to the building. The completed scheme was able to attract the necessary life cycle guarantees to secure a key national retail operator

International Coffee Drive Thru Chain –

Challenge: To design and build to tight programme construction of a new build steel framed building to tenants demanding specification. Including demolition of an existing fast food drive through . provision of extensive external works and ducting plus all new services.

Solution:Contor and its design team immediately took on board the detailed specification and requirements of the ingoing tenant and fully integrated these within the design as early in the project as possible. Then using our pool of regular partners(subcontractors/suppliers) and working with the new subcontractors and suppliers introduced to us completed the contract to all parties satisfaction on time and to budget. Thus allowing final fit out and the opening of the outlet as originally planned.

National Food Restaurant Chain –
Construction Consultancy and Construction

Challenge: Contor was required to deliver a tight program at short notice in a live, busy national railway station. The works had to be performed adjacent to and above large superstore outlets with shared services whilst still operating. Compliance with strict Railway Health & Safety regime. As part of the project, we were required to upgrade all the main services and match existing high quality shop frontages and wall finishes. To facilitate this work, a full survey and record was carried out of all existing services.

Solution: Contor kept open, daily liaison with all station staff involved. This ensured the project progressed smoothly with no impact to any of to the public or railway station processes. Also Contor had to plan in advance timed deliveries as well as out of hours working. There was constant communication with the superstore and surrounding outlets outside of the construction project. This made sure they were not at any time being affected or disrupted by the project. The works were completed on time with high levels of satisfaction from both station staff, adjacent premise business managers and client alike. Incident free Health and Safety.

National Food Hall – Construction

Challenge: To turn an existing empty unfinished warehouse into a finished building that would be suitable for the future use as a large new retail food outlet. Encompassing all the requirements of one of the major national retail stores.

Solution: Contor provided both construction, programme and cost information early days and prior to start on site. Attended many design meetings. Interrogated the tenants demanding specification, specialist suppliers/subcontractors and requirements including programme. Then worked with/alongside all parties allowing early access for fit out and deliveries. The technical details for off loading, traffic management for deliveries, new underslab drainage, new services provisionr, lift and large mezzanine 1st floor installation equired were achieved as was programme allowing the store to open on time.

Note: The success of this contract resulted in numerous contracts of a similar nature being awarded and which have been successfuly completed in the same manner.

Doddle – Construction

Challenge: Conversion of existing reception area to a customer facing, national parcel delivery service. Working adjacent to main entrance and station thoroughfare. Provision of a new upgraded electric supply, diverting existing / shared waste drainage system and supply high quality floor finishes. All the work had to be done with no disruption to day to day functioning of the station and adjacent businesses whilst maintaining emergency, escape and fire routes.

Solution: Through Contor’s friendly and partnered approach we managed to work very closely to the station staff, around daily deliveries ensuring day to day normal functioning of the station was not impacted. Liaised with adjacent premises, notifying them of upcoming activities making sure no disruption was caused at any point. We segregated the public with no daily impact to their journey. Works were completed with time in hand. No Health and Safety incidents were registered.

Car Hire – Construction

Challenge: Supply of over 150 meters of new, armoured electrical supplies to a car rental office. Contor was required to work around station deliveries, car parks and to comply with very tight Health and Safety standards. This was done at a higher level from internal main supply through delivery concourse to external car hire cabin/office.

Solution: Close liaison with the station staff. Programming works and selection of the correct access equipment was key to avoid delay and disruption to deliveries and internal railway business.
